Cheese Championship to Taranaki

Wanganui District

The awards in tho cheese section of the National Dairy Show which opens in Palmerston North to-day, havo been released, and reveal that the Now Zealand championship lias /been won by Pembroke Dairy Company (Taranaki), while tho Manawatu and West Coast championship has been secured by Kapanui Dairy Company s;

Ituated a little north of Wanganui.

JUDGES’ COMMENTS “There was a slight decrease in tho number of exhibits staged for judging as compared with last year, due no doubt to tho difficult conditions experienced by cheesemakors throughout the season,” state the judges. “The quality generally was well up to the standard of previous shows, the winning exhibits being exceptionally good. Although most cheese was free from mechanical openness, some shbwod evidence of slitty texture. The flavour, with exceptions, was satisfactory. The body in some of the entries, however, was on the Arm side. “Comment has previously been made concerning the lack of attention given to the finish of exhibits and this defect was again in evidence, a, number of entries being penalised on that account.” SPECIAL PRIZES Rennet Co.
