Manawatu Co-operative Guild

RETIRING SECRETARY HONOURED The Manawatu Co-operative Guild held their fortnightly meeting in' the Y.W.C.A. room yesterday afternoon there being a largo number of members present and live new members were enrolled.

Mrs Neiderer (the president), after welcoming all present, also welcomed the new secretary, Mrs C. C. Aitken. This was a special gathering in honour of Mrs McLeod the retiring secretary who has been transferred to Wellington. The afternoon was enjoyably spent listening to the following items: Miss Currin (pianoforte solos), Miss Jean Aitken (recitation), Miss Coupe (songs), the accompanist being Mrs Taylor. There were also two competitions which were won by Miss Taylor and Mrs Garrity. A letter of appreciation of her services, signed by all those present, was handed to Mrs McLeod. Afternoon tea brought a very pleasant afternoon to a, close.
