POWER BOARD STILL CLEARING UP HURRICANE DAMAGE

"The gangs are still clearing up the damage done by the hurricane on February 2, and to date, practically ali 'lhe main lines have been permanently repaired,” stated Mr. W. A. Waters, engineer to the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, in his monthly report to the board yesterday. ‘‘The statistics of broken wires during the hurricane have been completed and sent to the Public Works Department. They reveal 1018 broken wires for the one day, made up as follow: Broken by trees, 762; collapse of buildings or cut by roofing iron, 91; service poles breaking, 23; collapse of P. and T. lines, 17; broken by gale, 125; total, iois.
