Hokowhitu School
MEETING OF COMMITTEE The Iloko wlii tu School committee last evening held its first meeting following the term vacation. fho headmaster, Mr C. Haydon, in his report said that the average roll for the month was 322 whilst the average attendance was 305. Miss' S. Lane was welcomed to the school as an additional assistant and commenced her duties on May 25. It was decided to send a letter to the Wanganui Education Board with regard to the extent that insurance moneys might be paid as compensation to those parents whose children should sustain injuries in the school grounds or during school hours. It was also decided that a letter of sympathy be sent to Mr S. Woodruffe, an ex-commit-tee member, who is at present convalescing from injuries received as the result of an accident.
As far as the actual dates for the winter show holidays w.ere concerned, it was agreed to leave their final selection in the hands of the headmaster. Mr 11. Shields took the chair and those present were: Messrs R. Olds, G. Melville, P. C. Crowther, J. 11. McKenzie, J. E. Larsen, S. Collier, H. Cox, and W. C. Cooper. .
