LATEST QUOTATIONS Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated March 27, 193 G Frozen meat quotations (prices on a ‘ ‘ delivered basis, including storage charges, cartage, market tolls, etc): — North Island Down lambs, 28/36 lbs, 7 3-Sd per lb; 36/42 lbs, 6 7-Sd per lb. Best North Island crossbred lambs, 2S/36 lbs, 7id per lb; 36/42 lbs, 6£d per lb. North Island second quality lambs, averago 30/31 lbs, 7 I-8d per ID. Best North Island wether sheep under 48 lbs, 5 5-Sd per lb; 4S/56 lbs, 5Jd per lb; 56/64 lbs, 41-d per lb; G4/72 lbs, 4d per lb. North Island ewes under 48 lbs, 44d per lb; 48/56 lbs, 4d per lb; 56/64 lbs, 3Jd per lb; 64/72 lbs, 34d per lb. New Zealand prime ox beef, 160/220 lbs, 4:1 d P cr lb. Compared with last wcck!s quotations, Down lamb 36/42 lbs and crossbred lamb 1-Sd per lb higher; second quality lamb Id per lb higher; wethers under 48 lbs Id lower; 48/64 lbs l-8d per lb lower; ewes under 64 lbs l-8d per lb higher; others unchanged. The demand for New Zealand lamb runs principally on light weights. Tho wether market is slightly easier. The market for ewes is firm. SHIPMENTS TO UNITED KINGDOM Tlie Meat Board is advised by its London office that the shipments from Australia, South America and South Africa to the United Kingdom during the first half of March were as follow: Australia: 32,337 -ureases mutton; 171,782 carcases lamb; 15,204 quarters beef (frozen); 6914 quarters beef (chilled). South America: 3275 carcases mutton; 106,364 carcases lamb; 1002 quarters beef (frozen); 222,466 quarters beef (chilled). South Africa: 1316 quarters beef (chilled). Tho shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for tho first half of March were as f0110w:—130,327 carcases mutton; 690,845 carcases lamb; 10,393 quarters beef (frozen); 9243 quarters beef (chilled). Total shipments of frozen meat from New Zealand for all destinations during thfe five and a-half months of the current season, ended March 15, were as follow, those for tho corresponding period of last season being shown in brackets:—Chilled beef, 52,475 quarters (17,147); frozen beef, 80,222 quarters (144,275); mutton, 627,621 carcases (724,601); lamb, 3,079,181 carcases (3,511,475); pork, 315,286 carcases (288,259); boneless beef, 71,970 bags (112,759). Killings for export during the five and a-half months to March 15, with those for the corresponding period of last season in brackets, were as follow: Chilled beef, 58,645 quarters (17,147); frozen beef, 47,366 quarters (101,410); wether mutton, 625,073 carcases (090,552); ewo mutton, 287,668 carcases (830,592); lamb, 5,422,581 carcases (5,971,700); pork (porkers), 247,340 carcases (269,924); porl; (baconers), 164,461 carcases (100,157); boneless beef, 187,472 freight carcases (44,344); sundries, 195,327 freight carcases (168,705).
