Mention was made at a committee meeting of the Palmerston North Garrison Baud of the fact that, when in New Plymouth for tho band contest, Drum-Major S. Wilson, of Palmerston North, had assisted in the training of the Hastings Band, which won the B grade quickstep. It was also reported that the local Pipe Band had requested Mr. Wilson to assist in their training for the coming Pipe Band contest a: W'anganui. Lieutenant C. Pike had been asked to take ever control of the Boys’ Institute Band for the second selection at New Plymouth, and it was noted that this band was the only one to secure higher marks than in the first selection,
