Cheltenham School Jubilee

CELEBRATIONS TO-DAY The Cheltenham School jubileo celebrations will commence to-day and extend over the week-end. Sports for children are to be held in the morning with a luncheon commencing at 12.30 p.m. At 2 p.m. the grand procession is to be staged and following this there will be the roll call for old pupils, with accompanying speech by Mr E. F. Hemingway, chairman of the Wanganui Education Board; Mr J. G. Cobbe, M.P.; Mr A. McMurtrie, senior inspector; Mr J. S. Tingey, Education Board member; and Mr A. B. Shannon, chairman of the school committee. A social evening is being conducted from 8 p.m., when the results of the voting for the queen carnival will be announced. To-morrow Divine service is to be held in the church, with combined addresses by Rev. J. P. Mayo, former vicar of Kiwitea, Revs. L. A. Barnes and J. A. Allen. The crowning ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on Monday. At 8 p.m. the jubilee ball, the last of the carnival functions, is to take place in the hall. The general committee is sparing no effort in hoping to make this finale a grand success.
