From Our Own Correspondent. Unpleasant weather is again making itself felt in the nature of rain and winds of gale force. Members of the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board’s staff have been working in the district recently. Temporary repairs to the power lines were carried out after the severe storm on February 2 and as time is available a more permanent job is being made. According to an old daily paper recently unearthed during building operations and dated 1892, farmers would he in a position to require no guaranteed prices il land could be purchased on the same conditions and prices as in those days. However, furniture prices at that time are very much on a par with prices at the majority of furnishing establishments nowadays. Personal. The friends of Mr. M. Leamy, of Awahou South, will regret to learn that he is at present in hospital, haying undergone an operation for appendicitis. Miss M. Leamy, from Waipukurau, returned home to Awahou South for the past week. Miss J. Blixt, a member of the Palmerston North Public Hospital nursing staff, who is on annual holiday, is visiting Napier. Mrs. Blixt, of Awahou North, is also visiting Napier. Miss C. Tye, of Wanganui, who has been the guest of Miss Akers, Awahou South, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. H. Whitehead junior and family have been visitors to Ohingaiti. Mrs. Butcher is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Whitehead senior. Miss Akers and Miss M. Forrest, of Awahou South, are leaving on holiday at the end of the week.
