Flock House as Fairbridge Institution

NEGOTIATIONS IN FKOGKESS As a result of discussions yesterday between Mr Gordon Green, secretary of the Fairbridge Farm School Society of England, and trustees of Flock House, it is announced that there is every prospect of Flock House becoming a Fairbridge institution and run on lines similar to tho farm schools of the society in Western Australia and British Columbia. No definite pronouncement can be made, however, till it is ascertained to what extent the New Zealand Government will give encouragement to the project. The object of the Fairbridge scheme is to promote the establishment within overseas Dominions, of the poorer children of the United Kingdom. Flock House was established with a similar object, although its activities were confined to sons and daughters of British seamen killed or injured during the Great War. This source of supply, however, was limited, and more recently Flock House turned its attention to boys of New Zealand soldiers who saw service in the war, but the trustees have always considered that it would be fulfilling more to the iettcr the purposes for which it was established if its trainees were brought to New Zealand from the Homeland. In linking up with the Fairbridge efforts, this desire will be realised.
