Shorter Skirts
According to the drst British, spring dress shows, skirts for daytime will be at least two inches shorter than recently. Fourtees inches from the ground is the maximum length for both sports and afternoon wear, and most skirts are very tight. The swallow skirt is a newcomer. It is short in front and dips at the back and is used for both afternoon and evening gowns.
The Chinese influence is apparent in the new collections. They are woollen materials which look like old bronzes and the plumage of the Chinese duck, and others which have a glazed, porce-lain-like effect.
A coat of boldly checkered green and grey tiveed has a collar and wide Tevers of green plumage; an evening coat is made entirely of pheasant plumage dyed black. Indian grass supplies the material for one dress; the trimming is strands of brightly coloured flowers made from rice paper.
