From Our Own Correspondeut. Mr. A. Hanson la visiting Masterton. Thirty-nine members attended the Bible class meeting held on March 23. Several visitors' were present from Eketahuna and were welcomed by tho leader, Mr, R. J-. Lawrence. It ■ was decided that the class would not affiliate with tho WalraHapa Union at present, but it was hoped •that .'at a later date this ; could be done. A donation of 15s was made to circuit funds. Following tlio- meeting a Bffilo class supper was held when games were onjoyed by all. Following supper Mr. R. J. Lawrence, on behalf of thoso present, made a presentation of a piece of Pyrex ware and a cheque to Mr. Benny, late leader of the class, who shortly leaves the circuit, Mr. Lawrence dealt briefly with the activities of Mr. Benliy as founder of tho class, and the progress made during the last three years. In making the presentation ho aSked Mr. and Mrs. Benny to accept the best wishes of those present for their future, happiness , and prosperity. Mr. Benny thanked those assembled for their kindly, thought and assured them that they would not be forgotten in the years to come, although they were moving to a district many miles away. Mr. E. B. Terry also spoke briefly of Mr. Benny’s sterling qualities. The camp chorus brought a pleasant evening to a close. Tennis. During the week-end a team from the Hastwell'Club visited Nireaha and after an even contest won a match by 13 sets and 114 games to 11 sets and 107 games. A very bright day made playing difficult but, nevertheless, good tennis was displayed by most players. Owing to the lateness of tho season no further matches will be played this year as two week-ends will be necessary to complete play for the championships, etc. Following is the detailed results of the match with Hastwell, whose players are mentioned first:— Ladies’ singles: Miss E. Sigvertsen lost to Mrs. Hercock, 3—6. Men’s singles: B. Dick lost to B. Lozell, o—6;0 —6; E. Sigvertsen lost to W. Drysdale, I—6; Bob Dick beat D. Payne, 6—4; C. Ngatuere beat E. B. Terry. 6—5; M. Ngatuere beat C. Goss, 6—2; J. Dick beat C. Hercock, 6—l. Ladies’ doubles: Misses Bliss and Dick lost to Mrs. Lozell and Miss Spring, 3—G; Misses E. Cricket. t During the week-end a team of cricketers from Nireaha visited Putaka to play a return match with that team. Putara won joy a margin of six wickets. Each team comprised 13 players. The teams were catered for by the Putara ladies, who received thanks from the visitors for their hospitality. Nireaha batted first and made a total of 61, chiefly duo to a stand of 29 by K. Morrison. Putara bowlers to take wickets were H. Gorry 5 for 24 and F. Bryant 2 for IG. Putara’s first innings produced 72 runs, the best scores being Priest 21 and Christensen 17. Nireaha’s best bowler was K. Morrison, who took 8 wickets for 31 runs. Nireaha’s second innings closed at G2, the chief contributors being Petersen 20 ancf Morrison 19. For Putara Bryant took G and Gorry 5 wickets. Putara’s second innings closed at four for 63, all batsmen making runs. Morrison again took wickets for Nireaha. Following are the detailed scores:— Nireaha, first innings: N.
