Elderly Retired Admiral Murdered
DASTARDLY CRIME IN IRELAND United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 7.50 p.m. LONDON, Mar. 25. A message from Cork states that gunmen murdered Vice-Admiral Henry Boyle Somerville. A motor-car containing a number of men drew up at his house and one man entered and shot the Admiral dead with a revolver. He then dashed out to the car which drove quickly away. Vice-Admiral Somerville, who was : his 73rd year, had a distinguished naval career. He was born in County Cork, married the daughter of a well-known Sydney man, served on every station in the British Navy and saw active service on numerous occasions. He also gave valuable service iu hydrographic surveys and was keenly interested in other branches of science, having written several books and contributed numerous articles to anthropological and autiquarian journals. He was living in retirement at the family home in County Cork at the time of his murdhr.
