Mortgage Legislation Will Not Be Delayed
MINISTER’S ADVICE TO MORTAGORS Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. In a statement on 111' subject of mortgage difficulties to-day, the Minister of Finance (lion. Walter Nash) said he had received a nuiVibcr of inquiries asking advice, and his invariable reply to mortgagors tv,as to utilise all the existing provisions under the Mortgagors .Relief and other Acts. When the tlovcr aient’s legislation for the adjustment of inert. ..gcs was introduced later in the year, the benefits provided would be made available to those who had taken advantage of the existing facilities to the same extent as to those who had not done so. Rural mortgages, Mr Nash added, must be adjusted to the values associated with guaranteed prices, and urban mortgages to present-day property values. The Government would take the necessary steps to achievo that purpose at the earliest convenient moment.
