The Oroua Croquet Club held their official closing for the season on Tuesday, when friendly games were played in the morning and progressive matches in the afternoon, the winners being Mesdames Aitken and Alsop. The annual dying-off of the millions of jellyfish that during the summer in fest the Hauraki Gulf, often making bathing unpleasant, is resulting in smaller catches of fish being made by Auckland fishermen. The bodies of the jellyfish settle on beds of small mussels and other shellfish and cover the beds with a decaying slime which is apparently repugnant to fish.
