Umpiring of Hockey

ANNUAL MEETING OF MANAWATU ASSOCIATION. Tho twenty-third annual meeting of tho Alanawatu Hockey Umpires’ Association was held last night, Mr H. Byers presiding until the new president, Air F. AlcLachlan, took the chair. Also present were Alessrs D. Wilton, J. K. Paton, W. H. Wilson, 11. D. Alilne, L. Alartin, R. L. C. Aitchison, E. R. Chapman, D. Hagen and AI. A. Levy (lion, secretary). Speaking to the annual report, as already published, Air Alilne congratulated'tho president and secretary on the work that they liad done during the year.

A similar expression of opinion was voiced by Air Wilson, who said it was pleasing to sec that the association had finished tlio year with a fair credit balance. Tho election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Air F. AlcLachlan; senior vicepresident, Air E. R. Chapman; junior vice-president, Air L. Alartin; delegates to tho New Zealand Hockey Umpires' Association, Air W. R. Keys (Wellington); delegate to Alanawatu Ladies’ Hockey Association, Mr E. R. Chapman; delegate to Alanawatu Hockey Association, Air F. McLachlan; emergency committee, Alessrs F. AlcLachlan, AI. A. Levy, and 11. Byers; appointments committee, Alessrs J. K. Paton, F. AlcLachlan and Al. A. Levy;'grading officer, Air A. E. Blackbourn; hon. secretary and treasurer, Air AI. A. Levy; hon. auditor, Air H. D. Alilne. Tho delegate attending the annual meeting of the New Zealand Umpire’ Association w r as instructed to support tho holding of the theory examination for referees before a fixed dato every season.

Tribute was paid to the work that the secretary had done for the association, and he was granted an honorarium.
