Radio Policy in Dominion

Per Press Association, WELLINGTON, March IS. The English Commission’s report on the British Broadcasting Corporation was tho subject of interesting comment by Hon. M. J. Savage when his attention was called to the recommendation that the Government should have an increased influence in framing radio policy. ‘•This," declared the Prime Minister, “is what we have long been advocating here. The responsibility is with the Government for laying down the policy. The objective must be to get the benefits of broadcasting into the homes of the people. It is not tile Broadcasting Board’s duty to outline the policy. If wo must have a board, and I don’t admit we should have a bourd, its-duty is. to administer the policy laid down by the Government.” Cabinet, Mr. Savage added, was nearly ready with its radio policy, which had boon the subject of a lengthy discussion. They hoped to complete it within a week or so.
