Final Carnival Dance at Cheltenham

The same • happy spirit that prevailed at all previous functions for Miss Joan Wood, tho school queen, who is a general favourite in tho district, marked last week’s dance, which was the final of the series of entertainments in her support. Greenery and flowers gave tho hall the attractive appearance the occasion demanded; the stage was decked with largo bowls of handsome gladioli and dahlias, and gaily-coloured Japanese lanterns shaded and softened tho lights. Messrs C. Anderson and L. Murray wore excellent M.C.’s and saw to the smooth running of all the arrangements, while tho best music was provided by an orchestra from Feilding. Mr H. McFarlane and Miss H. Christensen were the winners of the lucky Gay Gordons, and Mr L. Burns and Miss D. Pettitte carried off the prize iu the Monte Carlo dance. - At the end of a very jolly evening Mr Wood thanked the patrons for their attendance, following which his daughter expressed her warm appreciation of the liberal and loyal support accorded her throughout the carnival campaign.
