Full Restoration of Cuts
PALMERSTON NORTH HOSPITAL BOARD IN FAVOUR Tho Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday expressed itself as being in favour of full restoration of salary and wages cuts, which will involve a total cost of £I7OO. Home time ago it restored portion of the cuts. The board's attitude was defined after the managing-secretary (Mr. A. J. Phillipps) had pointed out that he would shortly have to submit tentative estimates for the coming year and that it would be a considerable help to him if the board gave an indication of its mind on the question. The chairman (Mr. J. K. Hornblow) said he thought the board would favour complete restoration. Mr. T. Green: Won't the department have a say? Mr. Hornblow said the department's attitude might bo different now from what it was previously. If the board decided that it favoured complete restoration, that would not preclude it from reviewing individual salaries later. On a vote being taken favouring’complete restoration, there were no dissentient voices.
