A Model Prison
ON OLD INCA ISLAND. A national penitentiary and penal colony will be built on the Island of the Moon in Lake Titicaca from modern scientific plans. President Jose Luis Tejada Sorzano, with Cabinet Ministers and judicial authorities, have inspected the island. The Ministry of Justice declares the project will include, beside a gaol and workshop, a special training school for the rehabilitation of convicts. The historic Island of the Moon in the Inca period was dedicated to the worship of the sun. In a convent there priestesses maintained a “sacred fire,” The area of the island is about twelve square miles, and its altitude is 11,000 feet, states a message from La Paz (Bolivia),
