PERSONALITIES
Mr. Hartley White, of Scotland, is a. visitor to the city and is the guest of Mr and Mrs J. Miller, Broadway avenue. At the meeting of the Manuwalu County Council yesterday feeling reference was made to the illness of Mr. C. J. McKenzie, chairman of the Main Highways Board, and on the motion of Cr. J. H. Perrett it was resolved that Mr. McKenzie be written and the hope expressed that he "would be soon restored to good health. Pastor A. Hinrichsen has commenced his ministry at the Church of Christ, Beckenham, Christchurch. Mr. Hinrichsen studied at the College of the Bible, Melbourne, and at Melbourne University, and served for a time in Victoria. He was for four years at Palmerston North, and has just concluded a year’s ministry at Lower Hutt. At the meeting of tho Manawatu County Council yesterday appreciative reference was made to the servico rendered the district by Mr. J. Linklater during his term as member for the district, and the following resolution was carried unanimously: “That this council places on record its appreciation of the long and faithful service rendered to tho inhabitants of the county of Manawatu by Joseph Linklater, Esquire, late member of Parliament for Manawatu electorate, and also that- a letter be forwarded him thanking him for his practical help and valuable assistance in county matters during his term of office. Further, that the council congratulates Mr. C. L. Hunter on his election as member for the district.”
