From Our Own Correspondent. A very enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Air R. W. Guy when Rev. Air Fothcringham was presented with a dinner service in view of his departure from the district. A complimentary social evening organised by tlie local branch of tho Labour movement was tendered Air . L. Hunter, AI.P. for Alanawatu. The evening attracted a large attendance from many parts of the district and a very enjoyable time was spent. Air R. W. Guy (chairman) on behalf of tho electors, called upon Air and Airs C. L. Hunter to accept a bronze and crystal fruit dish. Little Noeline Parr also presented Mrs Hunter with a bouquet. Airs Hunter suitably responded. Among those present were the following: Mesdames C. Alarriott, red satin; A. Grady, floral ninon; L. Simpson, daffodil satin; H. Parr, lemon lace and brown marocain; Seott (Levin), lemon and brown satin; J. Seddon, wine marocain; S. Lloyd, bluecrepe; B. Hay, navy and wite crinkle crepe; R. Judd, blue and white crepe; E. Patrick, figured blue marocain; N. Gunning, black lace and blue silk; Alisses M. Trigell, black matalasse; J. McAdams, red satin; AI. Johnston, daffodil taffetta; E. and R. Corlett, black ]ace; A. Mason, lemon organdie; A. Anderson, figured crepe de chine; N. Ennis, black and red satin; P. Wilton, figured voile; R. Young (Opiki), pink taffetta; V. Guy, black velvet; G. Guy, tomato crepe; V. Voss, rose taffeta; AI. Judd, flame lace; Af. Kinstey (Levin), pale blue satin; A. Mark (Levin), red velvet; AI. Rowlatt (Levin), apple green marocain; P. Cameron (Levin), salmon pink marocain; C. Jamieson, blue crinkle crepe; D. Irwin (Opiki), blue and silver; AI. Atkinson, blue satin; D. Tremewan, tussore silk. At the fortnightly meeting of the Lind Lodge of Druids, Sister R. Griffith presided over quite a good attendance of members. Visitors were welcomed from Acorn Lodge, Palmerston North. After lodge the sisters entertained, the surprise of the evening being the special supper. Dancing and singing added to the night’s enjoyment. A social evening will be held next Lodge night.
