From Our Own Correspondent. Miss M. Nichols has returned to Palmerston North after spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs Don Corlett. A guest of Miss Elsie Hanson Is Miss Noelme Dawson, of Wellington. Master Erie Foby, of Wellington, la staying with Mr Archie Hanson. A guest of Miss M. F. Bell is Mrs Ferguson,' oi Auckland. Miss M. Wadsworth has returned to Wellington. Staying with Mrs Eric Terry are Master Dercy Terry and Miss J. Terry, ol Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs Jack Randall have returned from New Plymouth. Mr Grant Drysdale and Mr M. Stewart spent a few days at Castlepoint on a ashing excursion, but report that fish are very scarce.

Mr William Brown, accompanied, by his son, has been visiting old xriends in the Atea district. Mr Brown was tanning in that district for a considerable period, but lett tne district about Jo years ago to taxe up a position at Dunedin. Airs Smith, of Christchurch, is at present oil a holiday visit to her daughter, Airs W. G. Terry. The ueatn nas occurred at Eketahuna of .ur jonn Drysdaie, a pioneer settler ot tne Nireana district.

Mr j. spring senr., who occupied tne chair, disposed ot a lengthy toast list. Mr j. P. Petersen proposed a toast to the health of the bride a parents, Mr and Mrs A. M. Berry. Mr At. raieita who replied to this Loasc mentioned many of the qualities of these two people, who were pioneer settlers of over 35 years' standing. The toast to the uriuegrooni s parents, Mr and the late Mr T. is. Mason, was proposed by Mr J. Spring. .\lr Chas. uoss In replying gave an interesting summary of Mr and Mrs Mason's activities since they came to Lins district 40 years ago, when the Nircuna valley was mantled with a totara torest, which has since been destroyed by bushmen, unparalelled in New Zealand. The late Mr Alason was secretary of the local cheese factory for many years, besides being a Justice of the Peace over a lengthy period. Those to give vocal items during the evening were Mr .Stan Uoss, Mr li. J. Lawrence and Mr C. P. Clout. Pianoforte solos by Mr J. P. BrooKes, and guitar solos by Mr Jack Xorke were also enjoyed. A competition run during the evening was won by Mr Murray Murriss of Rongokokako, .Mr Dave Uuinatio of Mangatainoka beingsecond. Following supper Mr M. Fafeita, on behalf of those present, thanked MiMason for the evening's entertainment, and also extended to Air and Mrs Mason tho very best wishes for a happy ami prosperous future married life. Rifle Shooting.

The Tararua Rifle Club nred the second shoot for the Thomusen Cup recently, when many good cards were returned, despite a strong southerly wind. P. Berry with a gun score of S 3 put up the best j performance for the day. Ten shots were nred at the 500 and 600 yard ranges, the handicap limit being 94. Following are I the scores: P. Sigvertsen 44, 42, scr, 86; J. P.-Petersen 48, 38, ser, 86; E. Sigvertsen 41, 37, 8, 86; J. P. Sigvertsen 42, 40, 3, 85; F. Sigvertsen 32, 39, 11, 82. The team chosen to represent the Tararua Club in the triangular match to be fired at the Tararua range against Alfredton nd Kaiparoro, will be as follows: J. P. Petersen, P. Berry, C. Rasmussen, C. Sigvertsen, J. P. Sigvertsen, B. Dozell, W. W. Drysdale, N. C. Petersen; emergency, R. Thomasen. The triangular matches comprise a shoot on each of the Tararua, Alfredton and Kaiparoro ranges. Seven shots are fired at '3OO, 500 and 600 yards ranges on each occasion. The team to put up the highest aggregate for the three matches holds for the season the Bush Triangular Match Shield. This shield has to bo won three times in succession or five times at intervals. The Tararua team won this shield outright last season but has gonerously re-presented It for competition. The rifleman who makes the highest aggregate for the three shoots holds for the year a cup presented by Mr R. H. Kebbell, of Alfredton. This cup is at present held by Rifleman J. P, Petersen of the Tararua Club.
