Marton A. and P. Show
SPECTACULAR EVENING ATTRACTIONS.
Considerable interest is being evinced in the spectacular attractions at tho evening entertainment on show night at tho Marton Racecourse on Thursday, January 30. Arrangements havo been made for a first-class fireworks display by Mr. Hopkins, of Auckland. The following Highland dancing events have been included:—Girls, 16 and under 18 years: Highland fling, sword dance, seantriubhas, and Irish jig-
Boys and girls, 14 years and under 10 years: Highland fling, swords, sheantriubhas and sailor’s hornpipe.
Mr. Hilary Glasgow, of Turakina, will act as judge, and the platform will bo erected in front of the stands.
At tho request of several breeders it has been decided to include a class for yearling draughts (colt, gelding or filly) as there are a number of firstclass yearlings in the Rangitikei and neighbouring districts. According to a competent judge, there was a splendid range of highclass calves in the boys’ and girls’ clubs’ recent competition, and a big entry is expected in this section. The ideal jumping competition course at tho racecourse should induce owners of ring horses to strongly support this section
Arrangements liave .also been made
for a bus to leave Marton at staled intervals for the racecourse, the fares being sixpence for adults and threepence for children.
Intending exhibitors should note that general entry day is Friday, January 17, and members are also reminded that their annual subscription of ill is now due and payable. Prompt payment will be appreciated by tho association.
