A shallow depression is located west of Nelson, while tho pressure has risen at Chatham Island.

Winds: North-east prevailing, but backing temporarily to west in the far north and changing to southerlies over the South Island; force moderate to strong.

Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough south of Fast Cape; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly winds; seas smooth to moderate. Weather: Rather unsettled, with scattered rains and in places thunder. Temperatures warm at first, but becoming cooler later in the South Islaua
