Per Press Association.

AUCKLAND, Jan. 7

A thirteen-year-old boy, William John Freeman, was fatally injured when a motor-car used for the delivery of milk crashed into a telegraph pole on the West End Road at 6.30 this morning.

The driver of the car, Barry Arthur Neill, who lived with Freeman at 2 Shelly Beach Eoad, Ponsonby, escaped injury. Freeman suffered a fractured skull, broken thigh, and abrasions. According to the driver, one of the back wheels collapsed, causing tie rear of the car to crash into the pole. The hood became wrapped round the pole, and wreckage was strewn over the road. After the crash the car went on for 20 feet, crossed a footpath, and ran into a bank. Deceased was the son of the milk vendor.
