Popular Citizens' Dance

MUSIC BY BLIND ORCHESTRA. The popular daneo organised by the Citizens Committee of Feilding, aud held in the Drill Hall on Wednesday night, attracted a large gathering and with music supplied by the dance orchestra of tho New Zealand Institute of Blind, patrons spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Tho cooler atmosphere proved ideal for tho dancers and in beautiful time tho dance band gave of its best and delighted tho crowded gathering. Two cornet solos beautifully rendered added considerably to tho evening’s entertainment, tho enencore number, "Vale,” being particularly pleasing in its clear bell-like notes. Piano-accordion solos wero also much appreciated, a popular Sousa March aud a melody being given. Extras were supplied by tho Durio brothers and Mr M. l’irani. Tho lady’s prize for fancy dress was awarded to Miss Jeffries, of Stanway, the award being made by tho Mayoress, who congratulated tho winner amidst general acclamation. Amongst tho many presont wore the Mayor and Mayoress, and Mr C. H. Tate and Mrs Tate. Tho greatest credit reflects on tho members of the committee aud tho helpers responsible for tho evening’s entertainment. The supper was one of the best. The following was tho ladies’ and supper committee: Mesdamcs Scott, Hicks, Minogue, Stringer, Stevens, O. Sporle, Pollock, Ellery, G. Smith, G. Wilkinson, Brandt, Innes-Jonos, Dummcr, and Mrs Collins.
