Inglesiders Enjoy Novel Entertainment

On Wednesday evening the “special passenger train,” organised by the Scottish Society Railway, for a * ‘plcasure tour around New Zealand,” wa? overcrowded, when the call of “All Aboard” was given by the guard. Various stops were made, including National Park, whero an impromptu snowball fight took place, and Mastertou as the place for refreshments. A visit to tho Waitomo caves was signified by the entrance of a ballet of Miss Jean Scott’s pupils in “The Glow-worm Ballet.” “The Porter’s Tap,” by Nola Cooper was enthusiastically encored. An exhibition of tho sailors’ hornpipe was given by Misses G. Niohoson and L. Ford. Numerous novelty dances were held, prizes being awarded as follow: Lucky number destiny, Mrs Fuller and Mr L. Cooper; Monte Carlo, Mrs Dando and Mr Arlidge; Gay Gordons, Mrs L. Pickering and Mr R.' Howe; colour waltz, Mrs Arlidge and Mr W. Fowlcs. A railway Monte Carlo was played by Piper J. Cooper and was won by Miss A. Gray and Mr F. Gordon. An extra dance was also played by Pipers G. Scott and J. Coojier. Mr J. S. Jenkinson, on behalf of tho Scottish Society, thanked the patrons for their attendance and pientioned that as the weather was becoming warmer there would only be two more iuglesides. The funds from the dances are to bo used to send the Pipo Band to the contest at Wanganui. He also thanked tho Railway Department for their kindness in lending the society tho posters and decorations. A welcome was extended by Mr Jonkinsou to Misses Wilson (3) of Oamaru, and Mr Thomson, of Wellington. A most enjoyable excursion came to an end at Invercargill, whero the passengers were told to find their way home at best they could. Mr A. S. Cooper was in his clement as tho guard. A professional orchestra, in regulation garb, provided stirring music.
