(Smith and tko chairman (Mr. J. K. Hornblow) and the managing-secretary (Mr. A. J. Phillipps) to report thereon. Mr. Smith asked whether the provision of a building for Feilding would be in view. The chairman: If the population increases as it has done in Palmerston North, the board will have to put up an institution in Feilding and possibly in somo other part. “I am disappointed,” jocularly remarked the Mayor. “I thought you were going to say that, with the increase in Palmerston North's population, Peilding would be absorbed into Palmerston North.” Mr. Smith: They have absorbed us long ago. Mr. Mansford: We have not digested them yet. > “The Loans Board has signified consent to the borrowing of the additional funds required for the administration .block and chronic wards,” the manag-ing-secrotary reported. v “X have discussed the question of selling out debentures with the secretary of the Mortgage Corporation,'' Mr. Pliillipps continued, “and would recommend that the board agree to my endeavouring to arrange for the Mortgage Corporation to take the debentures which we will be offering. The amount is £ 7500, the term 20 years, the rate of interest 3£ per cent. I would also recommend that, as was done for the original Joan, the Public Trustee be asked to accept tho position of Sinking Fund Commissioner in respect of this supplementary loan.”
The chairman (Mr, J, K. Hornblow) and managing-secretary were aumorised to finalise matters in connection with the loan.
