Boyce, J. Hodgens, F. J. Ryder, L. T. McLean, A. E. Mansford, T. Green, M. A. Moody, G. P. Ca-tley, G. A. Monk and V. E. Smith. “Complaint is frequently received that relief labour is being exploited inasmuch as it is being used on works of a maintenance nature,” wrote the Unemployment Board. “Tho board is not prepared to frame a definition of the term ‘maintenance work,’ but desires to point out that tho mero fact of a work being of a nature commonly accepted as ‘maintenance’ does not in itself debar tho use of relief labour.”

In regard to the Old People’s Home at Awapuni, it was reported that there were 33 male and 10 female patients in the institution on September 30. Sister YVright had taken up her duties as matron on Octo'bcr 1.
