Colonel S. J. E. Closey addressed a well-attended meeting in the hall. -Mr A. Scott presiding introduced the speaker, whoso subject was Social Credit. Ho enlarged on the benefits tlie system would lie to tlie farmers and through them to the wholo community. A number of questions were answered satisfactorily to tlie questioners. At the conclusion of the meeting Colonel Closey announced his candidature as ail Independent for the Manawatu electorate.
. Among visitors .staying down here arc Mr and Mrs T. lioness, Air Pitman, Mrs J. Pitman and family, Ah- and Airs K. Stuart (Feilding), Mr and Mrs Hunter (Alarton). Air and Airs Harris fSanson). Mr and Airs S. Avery havo returned to Feilding to live. All- and Mrs Webby havo taken up their permanent residence here. Mr W. T. Alorpeth, having sold his property to Air B. Waldegrave. is now returning to New Plymouth to live. Airs T. Fitzgerald who has .been in the hospital undergoing an operation is progressing satisfactorily. -Many of the residences here are being painted and give a. very pleasing appearance to tho township.
