HAMUA. Airs Hobbs presided at tho October meeting held in tlie hall on Friday afternoon. ’ Aitsdaines AY. J. .Smith and G. Bailey, wh have cacli suffered sad bereavements .recently, were passed sympathy votes. Further arrangements were made regarding- the forthcoming BushAVairarupa half-yearly council meeting which is to take place- in llainua. Airs Davies, Alisses Joy Smith and Maisie Bailey equalled for first place in the points’ prize competition for the best plain sponge cake. The six entries were sent to the matron of tlie Pahialua public hospital. Mesdarnes Hobbs and Warner judged the competition. -Another competition arranged by Mrs Biddle was v.-nii by Airs- Humphrey, This was guessing the weight of a preserving' jar of peas. Peggy squares were handed in to he -sewn together, at the November meeting. Inc hostesses were Mesfiamcs tjadicr, \i nitc and Walker.

TIRITEA, Tho October meeting of the Tiritea Women's Institute was held at the residence of Mrs Andrews. The president, Airs Shore, was unable to bo present so tho chair was taken by Airs Andrews, a vice-president. The motto for tlie day was "They well deserve to have, that know the strongest and surest way to get. ' -A. demonstration on ratlin work was given by Airs Hiking, of Palmerston North. A competition for something made I from a flour bag. judged by Airs Hiring and Aliss AVills, resulted in a win for Airs

Pinfold. Aliss Broaden was second and Mrs Perry 3. A written competition was won by Miss Doris Smith. Alembers aro again entering- the potato growing competition, also it was decided that each member' should buy health stamps and by doing so help tho health campaign.
