Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The pressure has risen- slowly over New Zealand but a slight secondaryhas been crossing the North Island today in front of the anti-cyclone approaching across the Tasman. Winds: Variable at first in the central regions, otherwise southerly prevailing, moderate mainly but at times freshening in the Cook strait area. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough on parts of the west coast of the North Island and between Castlepoint and Kaikoura-; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman: Light to moderate south-westerly to southerly winds, moderate seas. Weather: Changeable in the North Island and north-east portion of the South Island, with scattered rain, but improving and otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures cool; some sharp inland frosts in the South Island.
