Rennie, of tho Ruapehu Ski Club, set out early this morning to search for' the missing tramper, Ted Fyson, of Hawcra. Fyson left Westmero at 11 o’clock on Friday, and at midday called at the house of Airs Ridd, ou tho main Brunswick road, where ho obtained hot water to make tea. Ho said ho was going on tho hills tramping at the back of Brunswick, which is rough country. It is thought he was making for Ilaorikia, on tho banks of the Wanganui river.
A western Federated aeroplane, piloted by Air J. Strachan, left at 5.45 this morning and searched between Paparangi and Eaorikia, returning after an hour and a-half’s flight. It went out again at 9.45, intending to go through to the Waitotara river, but misty weather eamo up and me machine returned an hour and 25 minutes later. Smoke from different fires was seen, but it is believed that these were smouldering logs.
Later, it was learned that Fyson had definitely been seen on top of the Tokomaru East road. It is believod he was making for the Wanganui river. There is a horse track across, and had he found this ho would have had an hour’s walking. Ho has probably- gone deeper into the back country.
