The Pets’ Corner

LONDON ZOO SUCCESS LONDON, Sept. 7. Tho Pets’ Corner introduced at the London Zoo has been an astonishing success and -worthy' of copy in thoso , weliequipped zoos, to be found in Aus- ! tralia and New Zealand. For a small , fee children can play with selected young animals and bo photographed. Jackie, ono of the tea party- chimpanzees in the zoo, is a happy-, merry- fellow. He loves a gamo with tho other young chimpanzees, and ho will play more gently- with children. Ho is human, too, in his likes and dislikes. Like many others in higher walks of life, .Jackie tires of being photographed. Since the Pets’ Corner was opened, Jackio and Peter have taken turns in ' being photographed in company with children in the special studio that has been constructed. Already Jackio has been photographed more than 1000 times. Until tho other day ho was as good as gold. He has blotted his copybook. On this particular occasion he must have thought that he was being snapped too many times, for in the middle of proceedings he started protesting vociferously. H 6 complained as only a young chimpanzee can, at tho top of his voice. It was understandable. Perhaps he thought that it was time his colleague Peter came to relieve him, or porhaps ho was not feeling too well. Liverish, maybe. Jackie Iwas at once removed from the studio and put in the tea p.artv cage with his friends. Peter relieved him.
