In Celebration of a Coming-of-age
Mr Dick Spencer, 'of Victoria University' College, Wellington, son of Air and Mrs E. H. Spencer, Grey street, Palmerston North, who last week came of age, was given a very jolly dance at Khandallah in celebration of the happy occasion. The evening, arranged by a party of friends, took place at tho-home of Mr and Mrs Williams, whose two daughters, the Misses J. and B. Williams, took an active part in the proceedings. Tho drawingroom had been converted into a ballroom and attractively bedecked with spring flowers and many young pcopie motored out from Wellington to do honour to Mr Spencer, who is particularly popular with his associates. The greater part of the music was played by Mr Jock MeEwen, and during the supper interval Mr Lachie MeEwen, on behalf of those present congratulated the guest of the evening upon having attained his majority, and proposed his health, which was drunk w r us musical honours. A happy little speech was made in reply by Mr Spencer. The gaiety continued until a very late hour and terminated with tho singing of “Auld Lang Syne.’'
