From Our Own Correspondent. Batchelor Girls’. Dance.
All road 3 lecl to the hall on Friday evening when one of tho social events of the year took place. The “batchelor girls' had spared no expenco to make their dance the success it turned out to be. Red and white canopies in chequered effect hung from the ceiling, while red and white streamers formed a trellis on the back of the- stage which was made beautiful with big bowls of flowers. The walls were robbed of their bareness by -the branches of red camellias hung thereon. Mr 11. Gore was an efficient M.C. and novelty dances were won by the following: Lucky Gay Gordons, Miss M. Radomski, Miss F. Highfleld and Mr Clive Buklowski; .Monte Carlo, Miss M. Proctor and. Mr C. Pulilowski. Amongst tho crowd dancing were Mesdames VV. Byers, maroon marocain; F. Coutts, black and white: W. McMurray, yellow lace; Campbell, lloral crepe do chine; Misses M. Speedy, rose velvet.and silver; M. Yautier, pink velvet and silver, white coatee; M. Jonson, green crepe and black coatee: M. Pye, cream crepe; L. Crawford, black velvet and silver; S. Speedy, blue lace; O. Christianson, green taffeta; C. L. Vautier, blue georgette and net; 33. lladomski, Marina .bluo crepe ana silver; M. Radomski, black taffeta; R. Park, brown and orange; T. .Vewcombe, daifodil marocain; K. Tail, flame satin; B. Woodd, floral taffeta; I. Woodd, red check taffeta; L. Tremowan, pink crepe; V. Pukiowski, yellow crepe; A'.. Watson, white organdie; I. Ireland, apricot crepe marocain; G. Wardle, orange lace; E. Tennis Affairs. , On Saturday afternoon an excellent number of tennis club members came to the courts to prepare for the opening of tho tennis season. Timo was put in on the netting, volley-board and umpire stands, while tli© courts have been nicely marked out. Work over, a section of tho working bee got themselves into trim for tho season in a game on tho courts. Ping Pong. Tho ping pong club will conclude a successful season on Tuesday evening when it will hold a tourney. There win be prizes and a jolly evening is anticipated. General and Personal. Tho school children held an egg day recently, when tho excellent total of 31 dozen tggs was brought for tho Willard Home. This is an average of 3- doz. per child. Mr E. Johansen has had to enter hospital where he had an operation for appendicitis. Tho passing of another Wliakarongo resident, Mrs Norman Kersal, came as a great shock and her bright personality will be missed, especially in tho Women’s Institute. Tho sympathy of the. district goes out to her husband. The W.I. members showed their sympathy with a floral tribute.
It is to be hoped that there will be a largo attendance at tho benefit social and ounce, for funds for the Kelvin Grove hall, to be held on Friday. The committeo has a very good programme to offer, and the dance portion will bo as good,as W.I. functions usually are. Further details will bo advertised. Mr Wilson’s visitor. Mr Fitzherbert ,lias departed from tho district.
