All Blacks' Easy Win

Abertillery Defeated By 31 Points to Six

SOUND DEFENCE BY VISITORS

United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON, Sept. 25*.

The All Blacks defeated Abertil-tery-Cross Keys by 31 to 6. They led 21 to nil at half time. Thirty thousand people were present at the picturesque Abertillery ground. In their strenuous forward work in the opening stages the All Blacks were often penalised for offside play in the scrums, the Welshmen breaking quickly on to Sadler in dangerous fashion.

Richardson, by a break through, brought the ball well do'wn to the fullback, who made a typical Gilbert-save. Hart made a great run down the wing and beat the full-back and scored. Gilbert failed to convert. —New Zealand 3, Abertillery 0.

Three times in as many minutes the New Zealanders were almost over. AVynward and McKenize dribbled past the full back’s weak opposition, the latter scoring a try. Gilbert converted. —New Zealand S, Abertillery 0.

The visitors were definitely on top, despite fine work by Richardson, Griffiths, then Caughey, beat three opponents and sent Brown over for an unconverted try. —New Zealand 11, Abertillery 0.

Caughey got across twico brilliantly in the. last few .minutes of the first spell, Oliver concerting both. —New Zealand 21, Abertillery 0.

After the interval, Caughey amazed the crowd by his lightning dashes. Tindill and Oliver also were superb, but the forwards were not having their own way. Hart was suffering from an injured ■ leg and Gilbert replaoed him on the wing. Brown drew first blood for the Welshmen with a penalty goal from a wide angle.—New Zealand 21, Abertillery 3.

There was much hot work among the forwards, but the play was clean. Sheer weight carried King over, Oliver converting.—New Zealand 26, Abertillery 2. Good Welsh dribbling failed to penetrate the visitors’ defence and the All Blacks retaliated by dribbling, the forwards using their weight to advantage. Oliver had a nasty fall and seemed in a bad way, but resumed after treatment, Gilbert taking a marvellous one-hand pass, went over, but was recalled for a forward pass. At this stage the home defence was surviving incessant shocks and heated work in the scrums prompted the referee to address the players. Gilbert converted Brown’s next try and then the Welshman, Brown, kicked a final penalty goal.—New Zealand 31, Abertillery 6.
