Papatawa

From Our Own Correspondent.

We are still being treated to all kinds of weather and one wonders when there will be a succession of fine, warm days. The rough weather has retarded the growth and most of the paddocks about are looking rather bare. Hay and ensilage are still being ted out, but even the stocks of these arc getting low. There seems to be a fair amount, of mortality among the ewes and lambs and quite a number of dairy farmers have had trouble with the cows, the main troubles being marnmitis and milk fever. Owing to effluxion of time tho Government gave notice that it was necessary to elect a new domain board in this district and oilier neighbouring districts. The election was heid here recently and there was a largo attendance of residents. Mr J. S. Nelson was in the chair. Tlie secretary of tho board presented a very creditable balance sheet and this was accepted on the motion of Mr A. JO. Dlcklns. Nominations were called for the hew domain board and all of the retiring members were again nominated and also two otlior residents. The election resulted in tho return of all tho retiring members, viz, Messrs J. S. Nelson, J. Hutchinson, Jas. Murray, Kay H. Morgan and C. W. Cunningham. A successful dance and euchre party was held in the hall last Saturday in aid ot the Kumeroa queen. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs O’Hagan, Mrs Nelson and Mr Gleadow. The euchre prizes were annexed by Miss Lynch (ladies) and Mr I>\ Kemp (men). Mr Busby officiated as M.C.
