Messrs Goodfellow And Hislop Resign

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night,
Schisms in ti.e ranks of the Democrat party which have been rumoured for somo time became manifest to-day. The publiclyacknowledged head of the organisation, Mr. W. Goodfellow, has severed his connection with the party and Will not attend the conference in Wellington. Similar action has been taken by Mr. J. Hislop, who has been chairman oi the Auckland executive since its establishment in the city.
Mr. Goodfedow has declined to make any statement for publication concerning his position,
Colonel Pow Asked to Contest Stratford ANSWER DEPENDS ON HEALTH Per Press Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. Colonel Pow, until recently the secretary of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, was approached to-day by representative electors and requested to allow his name to gj forward as a candidate for the Stratford seat. To-night Colonel Pow said he had come to uo decisjon. His plans would be influenced to a great extent by the state of his health.
