TOKOMARU At the August meeting Mrs Boote presided over a good attendance of members, and visitors. It was decided to send a box of goods to the Willard Home. Mrs Harper of Shannon gave a lecture on first aid in cases of burns, scalds,--injured limbs, and bandaging etc. His lecture was much appreciated by the members. At tho conclusion Mrs BootCj moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Harper, which was carried by acclamation. A very interesting report was given by Mrs Burt, delegate, to the eonforeneo recently held in Auckland. Miss Mason, gave a splendid report on the recent group rally held at Opilti. Tho competition for three bran scoues, resulted:—Mrs Boote I, Mrs Penticasi 2, Mrs Gydc J. . AWAHURI. A special meeting of the Awahuri Women’s Institute was held in tho local hall on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Bond presided over a fair attendance aud welcomed .-e visitors and members. Mr. Paul was then introduced and 1 gave a very interesting and instructive .demonstration on knitting. The ( various, ways and ideas were very simply explained and showm. This demonstration should prove a great benefit to those who attended the meeting. It was decided to hold a euchre and dance on, September 11 at 8 p.m. in aid of institute funds. Birthday ’ invitations have been received from Milson, ■ Bunny-’ thorpe, Coiyton and Makino institutes.It has been found necessary to postpone the usual monthly meeting to a week later, August 28. Tins meeting should be particularly interesting as the delegate, Mrs. Henderson, will give her report of tho annual conference, and as three other members attended the conference, those present will no doubt hear their views. A hearty vote of thanks was moved to Air. Paul for his instructive demonstration. Afternoon tea was then handed round and a very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close.

TIAKITAHUNA. The monthly meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon when Airs. D. Rowland presided over a good attendance of members. A hearty welcome was extended to visitors from Alilson, and two new members. Correspondence read included invitations from Alilson and Bunnythorpe Institutes to be present at their birthday celebrations. It was decided to give a donation to the Free Ambulance funds, in connection with the Willard Home members agreed to bring produce, etc., to the next meeting, to be sent to the home.

A very interesting demonstration or, beaten brassworlc, given by Airs Fenwick, of Palmerston North, met with much enthusiasm, many members being keen to learn the art. A vole of thanks was passed by acclamation, A competition for home-made butterscotch was kindly judged by Alesdames Murphy and Renwick. Tho .winners were: Mesdames Davies 1, D. Rowland 2, M. RichardsotrJ. An amusing competition (best camel torn from a newspaper) was won bv Airs Murphy (Alilson) and judged by Airs N.- P.

Nielsen... Afternoon tea was served by .the. hostesses,. Mesdames Igglcsdon, A, Buelianan and F. Vautier.
