Lord Nuffield's Entirely New-Type Car

SERIES 11. NEW PERFORMANCE AND STYLE No less an authority than the “Autocar" predicts that Lord Nuffield \s new “Series II." will prove an even greater success than the Morris Family Saloon, of which US,OOO were sold in eight months—easily a record for the British motor industry. Tiio “Autocar," after roadtesting the Series 11, describes .it as “altogether a remarkable car" which achieves on the road a high degree of relincmcnt. The appearance of the saloon, with its raked windscreen and downswept tail and generally streamlined contours, marks a new development in the English car of popular price.. The appearance of speed and power is by no means misleading, for the high power to weight ratio of the Morris Series II provides a sparkling performance and a high cruising speed which may be maintained for lung periods and over considerable journeys. A permanent hydraulic jacking system is built in, enabling all four wheels, or the front or rear wheels only, to be lifted oil' the ground. An important feature of this , is that it is operated from inside the car, which means, of course, that the time which must be spent in changing a tyre is reduced to a minimum. This feature will be ap predated in wet weather. The frame is of special box-section and the body is rigidly attached to the chassis, the two forming a double boxsectioned structure of immense strength. Ventilation has received special attention, (lie door-windows being of the ventilating type which extracts the vitiated air without draught, while additional ventilation is provided by the top-hinged windscreen with easy adjustment and scuttle ventilator. Neat metal door-stops of the concealed type, •which take up no body-room whatever, are another example of the attention lavished upon detail fitments. The standard equipment of Morns Series 11. include new turbulent-type cylinder head giving greater power output; huge capacity ventilated dynamo with three charge rates; equipoise Jloating rubber engine mounting eliminating vibration; frame-mounted pedals free from vibration; central hand brake with instantaneous adjustment from driver’s seat; and air-cleaner and engine fume-consumer eliminating carburettor roar.

This new ear may now' be inspected at Messrs. Justice and Edmunds, who are the local distributors.
