Maoris Upset by Ground
DUBBO MATCH NOT AS BRILLIANT AS USUAL United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. SYDNEY, July 25. Commenting on the Dubbo match, tho Sydney Morning Herald says: — “Playing on loose red soil was an experience the Maoris did not relish. They complained at half-time that the clouds of dust which rose in the scrums so obscured their vision us to affect the form of tho hooker, Mitchell. The Maoris, however, became used to the conditions, andDn the second spell they were not greatly troubled. “In a rather rugged game, with much hard tackling, the Maoris did not produce the brilliant open play expected of them. Nevertheless, they scored ten tries while their opponents failed to gain one. ” Stuart Perkins, writing in the Telegraph, says:—“The tourists were perceptibly upset by the slate of the ground, but when allowance is made
for the strange conditions, the Maoris’ showing was pleasing enough.
