Massey College juniors met the local juniors on Saturday. Bunnythorpe were considerably under strength and were hard put to field a full team. Bunnyt.horpo (red) won the toss and elected to take advantage of the slight breeze. Reds immediately set up an attack on tho College (blue) line, but were held up by the blue full back. The red rearguard was varying its play nicely and well placed kicks had the blues defending almost continuously until a nice movement starling from the scrum saw Sutherland score wido out. Tho kick failed. From now on until the end of the first spell 1:lie blues were hard pressed. H. Jefferies dribbled (he ball over the line but apparently his geography was at. fault. He failed to touch down and three points went begging. Penalties awarded the reds in handy positions found the kickers at fault and the spell ended Bunnythorpe Massey College nil. During the interval the reds rearranged the team. The benefit of the rriovo was most noticeable. With good service from tho serum the rods staged some bright passing movements hut the blue defence proved equal 1:o tlie strenuous demand made. Towards the close of the game the condition of the locals showed signs of petering out which enabled the blues to work down into the reds’ territory when, cm receiving front a scrum, tho hall was handed on to J. (Merritt who ran round and scored wido out. The kick proved too difficult. Tho blues were given a good chance by means of a penalty in a good position but they could not add the points. An interesting feature of this game was the good ■ results obtained by tho reds who played the 2 3 —2 scrum. The hookers gave their backs n regular feast: of the bull during the second half and it: was only the good i defensive play by iho blues that enabled . them 1.0 hold the game to a draw, 3 all.
