John Barrymore’s business manager, Henry Hotclmer, to-day filed a response to Dolores Costello’s divorce suit against the famous movie actor. He made a general denial of the charges and said Barrymore’s wife was a strong wilful woman. Answering the charges of intoxication aboutd his yacht he declared that his wife “hold Barrymore a virtual prisoner on the yacht for some 2A months with tvomen guards. He was unable to work and to escape the deadening influence- of her presence on his art ho went to Nett York and later to England.”

Barrymore is quoted unofficially today as. saying ho offered his wife 75,000 dollars as . settlement.
