Scores of girls with red hair lesoig ed the offices of the Nottingham Page ant on a recent day.

They had come in response for an appeal by t-he organisers for girls with hair of that colour (hair dye strictly prohibited) to play the part of Fliocn ician slaves iu tho historical pageant which is to bo held during Wlntsun week (which begins on June 9). The organisers specially asked for girls with real Titian air, and they got them. One applicant came from the south of England.

The gins who are chosen will have to carry a litter into the arena, on which will be seated • Doniitilla, wife of a Roman Governor of Britain. To ensure that the litter will be carried evenly tho girls all have to be about the same height. Care will be taken to sec that all tho girls have their hair cut and waved in exactly the same style. There will bo 0000 performers in the pageant, and tho spectators ou the opening day will include tho Lord Mayor of London, Sir Stephen Killik, who is bringing his State coach.
