Autumn Foursomes Open at Mew Plymouth
RESULTS OF FIRST AND SECOND ROUNDS Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. The New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union’s autumn foursomes opened on the New Plymouth Club’s links in perfect weather. The event was played in a handicap, with a limit handicap of 40 for each pair. A feature of the day was the success of the Taranaki players, six of the eight pairs remaining in being New Plymouth Club members. Results were:— First Round
Miss Bundle and Mrs Mandcr (New Plymouth), receiving 3 strokes, beat Mrs Foreman and Mrs Dalgl'cish (Wellington), 2 and 1. Mrs Rich and Miss Home (New Plymouth), receiving 3 strokes, beat Mrs Guy Williams and Mrs Collins (Masterton), 6 and 5. Mrs Waddell and Mrs Fisher (New Plymouth), no strokes, beat Mrs Russell (Wellington) and Mrs Hill (New Plymouth), 5 and 4.
Mrs Monteath and Mrs Atkinson (New Plymouth), receiving 5 strokes, beat Miss J. Duncan (Wanganui) and Mrs Cromb (Wellington), 1 up. Mrs Nicholson and Mrs Quilliam (New Plymouth), receiving (i strokes, beat Mrs Banks and Mrs Richmond (Wellington), 1 up. Miss Kollo and Mrs Wade (New Plymouth), giving 3 strokes, beat Mrs A. Johnson and Miss McGuire (New Plymouth), -1 and 2. hlrs Curtis and Miss Gavin (New Plymouth), giving S strokes, beat Mrs Lightband and Mrs Power (New Plymouth), 4 and 3. Mrs W. C. Weston and Mrs Warnoek (Now Plymouth), receiving 5 strokes, beat Miss Malone and Miss Whittle (Stratford) at the 19th.
Second Round Mrs Russell Graeo and Mrs D. Young (Wanganui), giving 11 strokes, beat Mrs Franklin .White nnd Mrs Linwood (New Plymouth), 7 and 6. Mrs Dull’ Taylor (New Plymouth) and Mrs Wilton (Taururutangi) beat Mrs Knight and Mrs Johnson (New Plymouth), no strokes, 1 np.
Mrs Rich and Miss Home, receiving 2 strokes, beat Mrs Mander and Miss Bundle, 1 up. Mrs Quilliam and Mrs Nicholson, giving two strokes, beat Mrs Atkinson and Mrs Monteath, S and 0. Mrs Waddell and Mrs Fisher, giving four strokes, beat Mrs Wade and Miss Rollo, 3 and 2. Mrs Curtis and Miss Gavin, giving 8 strokes, beat Mrs Weston and Mrs Warnoek, G and 4. Miss P. Blundell (Wellington) and Miss E. Blundell (New Plymouth), receiving G strokes, beat Mrs J. M. Wilson and Mrs Buttle (Auckland), T up. Miss Currie and Miss Blythe (Waganui), giving 10 strokes, beat Mrs Cartwright (New Plymouth) and Miss Tonks (Haworn), 5 and 4.
