i'rom Our Own Correspondent. A successful euchre and dance was held in the Compound on Friday evening under the auspices of the W. D. F. Tj., when quite a number of visitors were present from Marton, Halcombe and surrounding surrounding districts. Music for the dancing was supplied by Sirs Stevens and Mr L. Hakaraia while extras were played by Miss M. Bush. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Q. I’aranihi and partner. Tho trophies for cards were annexed by Mr J. Ashton and Mrs B. Prior while t.hc runners-up were Mr 13. Hills and Mrs W. George.

Work is still procoeeding on the freezing works, much of tho valuable machinery having now been removed and the huge building which, a few years ago was a hive of industry, is now but a ghost of its former self.
