From Our Own Correspondent. Football. On .Saturday last rain fell continuously during tho afternoon thus precluding the playing of the practice match which Had been arranged. Next Saturdany tho local seniors commence tho competition matches when they meet their old rivals, Marton Old Boys. This gamo is rflways productive of a good lusslo and rugby fans should be assured of a thrilling game, which should give a fairly reliable indication of tho homo team's chances for the season. It is understood that as well as a senior and a junior team, the Halcombo club is entering a fourth grade team and tiiis is undoubtedly a wise step as by fostering football among tho younger lads t.ho club is building for the-iT-ture. Too many promising players are lost to the gamo by clubs failing to provido them with football immediately after they leave school.
