From Our Own Correspondent. Sir W. A. Salt presided over a full attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the school committee, also present were Slessrs T. Conwell, F. J. Giles, J. SI. Giles, AV. Ward (socy.). A circular was received from the Wanganui Education Board, advising the best methods to adopt to make necessary arrangements to celebrate his Majesty's silver jubilee. The secretary reported on the meeting of combined schools’ committees held at Rongotea, and it was decided that the Awahuri school co-operate. A dlcussion on the raising of funds was brought up and it was resolved that a concert be promoted, particulars of which will be advertised at a later date. The friends of Sir Alf Salhcrly of ICauwhata will regret to learn that when breaking in a young horse ho had the misfortune to hurt his shoulder. He had to attend the hospital for medical treatment. The friends of Sirs George Knowles will regret to learn that she is at present an inmate of the Palmerston hospital. Sir Ross Bond, when returning home late last Saturday night had tho misfortune through something going wrong with the car ho was driving, to run _ ifito a strainer post at the entrance to his home. However he escaped injury. It is rumoured that the function inaugurated by tlie Awahuri AVomen s Institute which is to come off soon will be a very’ popular affair and since all kindred institutes are invited there will be a big night out in Awahuri with liie usual foresight of tho institute no stone will be loft unturned to make the function the success anticipated.
