Rongotea

Prom Our Own Correspondent. The Rongotea Junior team (black) played their first game of the competition on Saturday on the local ground against HuiaCblaclc and white). Steady rain came down during almost the whole course of the match players finding difficulty with the greasy ball. Tho game was a hard one, play going from end to end and oVer thirty minutes of tho first spell had passed before any score was made. Sherman (black) breaking through for a try. W. Gloyn failed with the kick. In the second half no score was made by either team. Play was mostly in black and white’s territory but the blacks could not find the line there being at least three scrums on the five yeard line. Huia, however, regained possession and play returned to black territory just as time sounded. Rongotea 2, Huia 0. Mr. R. Scott made a capable referee.

The Morcom Cup for tho Tennis handicap singles was finally decided last week when Mr. R. Scott (5) beat Mr. W. Coombs (10) by 60—53. In the ladies rosebowl final the present holder Miss G. Eades (-20) beat Mrs. R, Scott (20) by 50—41, havinjr now been successful in three successive years.
